Keyboard Rex takes mobile typing security to a new level from its very first release. Built by PALEOS.IO, it combines a clean, customizable Android keyboard with defenses designed for one of the most sensitive surfaces on your device: every key you touch.

Keyboard Rex is truly offline. The app does not request Android’s INTERNET permission, so it cannot directly upload your keystrokes, clipboard contents, or personal dictionary to a remote server. Cleartext network traffic is also explicitly blocked as an added defense-in-depth safeguard. There is no cloud account or remote dictionary sync.

Sensitive preferences and learned dictionary entries are protected locally with AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption, with cryptographic keys managed by the Android Keystore. App backups are disabled to help prevent private keyboard data from being copied into device or cloud backups.

Optional screenshot protection blocks screenshots, screen recording, and compatible overlay windows while the keyboard is visible. Keyboard Rex also adds unusual defenses against modern side-channel attacks: software-rendered keyboard surfaces reduce exposure to GPU-based pixel inference; keyboard views are hidden when the input window leaves the foreground; and Dynamic Key Shift slightly changes keyboard position between sessions to disrupt motion-sensor mapping. During voice-input handoff, randomized haptic noise can help interfere with gyroscope-based inference.

A configurable clipboard auto-clear timer limits how long copied data remains available, while user-pinned items can be preserved. You also get emoji support, spell checking, suggestions, undo and redo, and customizable themes.

Keyboard Rex does not ask you to trade privacy for convenience. From day one, security is part of the keyboard—not an afterthought.
